Batman: Arkham City: A Real Batman Simulator
Batman: Arkham City: A Real Batman Simulator
It's finally here! After two years of waiting, Batman: Arkham City has finally hit the store shelfs, and first things first, I must say, this game completely blew Arkham Asylum out of the water. For one, the storyline in this game was so much more complex and much grittier than Arkham Asylum. I don't want to spoil too much.
Basically, the game starts off with you playing as Catwoman and you're trying to steal an item from Two-Face. Catwoman and Two-Face have a bit of conflict throughout the entire game and it's a pretty interesting story. Anyways, the gameplay as Catwoman is excellent! All of her attacks are fast and the gameplay mechanics make it smooth! So after you beat down the bad guys, you get captured by Two-Face and that's the end of the Catwoman part for now.

Next, you actually see Bruce Wayne get captured by Hugo Strange's crew and taken into Arkham City. This whole sequence was by far one of the most memorable sequences in the game! My mouth was dropped in awe by how awesome this was. I don't want to spoil this part because you'll have to experience it for yourself!
As soon as Batman comes into play, things just start to get crazy! One of the first things you do is you go and you confront a sick and weak Joker.

Fighting through all of Joker's goons to reach him was a total blast! Speaking of which, Batman's combat mechanics couldn't be any better! It's the same as Catwoman's, very smooth and consistant. Plus, whenever you get them, you can use your gadgets while fighting! It's always fun to use a quick explosive gel when you've got 10 guys surrounding you!

After you confront Joker, you get to go around and fight a buttload of different Batman villains (Mr. Freeze, Penguin, Ras al Ghul, Solomon Grundy, too many to name :P). It was a treat being able to see all of these villains in the game. Ever since they mentioned some of these villains in Arkham Asylum, I was hoping that they would make an actual apperance in the next game, and my wish came true!
Enough of the main story now, if I keep talking about it, I'll spoil it and I don't wanna ruin you're experience :P. Anyways, along with the story, you get to to a lot of different side missions which are always fun to do. One of my favorite ones was whenever you had to collect the Titan formula for Bane. He was actually a good guy until the end of that side mission, but while he was good, you actually got to team up with him to take down a bunch of goons! WHOOOOOA! It was awesome!

In addition, you'll have a shit ton of Riddler challenges to complete as well as collecting Riddler trophies and solving riddles throughout Arkham City. Also, you'll have to rescue hostages that Riddler has captured. These can be challenging and definitely make you think.

The visuals in the game are absolutely breathtaking! This is one of the best looking games I've ever seen! The environment looks better than ever and the characters all have a gritty reimagining to them. Simply beautiful.
The plot honestly made my mouth drop! So many twists and turns throughout the story. Honestly, the whole story of the game made me think of a mix between the Arkham Asylum graphic novel as well as the Knightfall comic series. The story was mindblowing!
This game seriously makes you feel like the Dark Knight himself! The gameplay is fantastic! The controls are simple, the fighting is smooth and fast paced, the ability to overlook a crime scene was a nice touch as well. I can't put this game down!
I'm honestly going to play this game constantly. I honestly don't think there's any game right now that is going to make me not play this game. It definitely worth playing more than once or twice! Truly a fantastic game!
If you are a Batman fan or you just want a game to play, go out and BUY Arkham City. Don't rent, BUY IT! It's definitely worth it! This is the game of the year! I've probably already put about 50 hours into the game and i'm only about 60-65% done with the game. It's that huge! This is seriously the best game I have ever played in my entire life! I was not disappointed in this game at all. This gets a perfect 10 in my book.
